First let me say that I dont consider myself a stoopid man but I need some help converting my thermostat from a Honeywell to a Trane. The Honeywell I am replacing is a T874G1246. This unit has worked fine for too many years and it is ready for an upgrade. The unit I am going to replace it with is a Trane TCONT600AF11MA.
So my delema is I looked at the wiring for the Honeywell and it looks like this ...

The Trane looks like this ...

Now this is the first time I have tried to do this so any help figuring out which wires go where would be an immense help.Read More
I have a Burnham oil-fired boiler, baseboard hot water, with 3 zones, single circulator pump plus indirect-fired water heater. I have replaced two of the original mercury thermostats with 2gig z-wave thermostats. The old thermostats are Honeywell with only "R" and "W" wires. With much help from the boilers forum, I have hooked up a "C" wire from the boiler to the new thermostats and all is working well.
Now for my third zone. A/C was added to the home about 5 years ago and a separate thermostat (White-Rodgers IF80-261) was installed to control the a/c so there are now 2 thermostats in the LR - one for the boiler and one for the a/c. I would like to get rid of both of these and wire both the boiler and a/c to a new 2gig CT100 thermostat. The a/c air handler is a Lennox Elite10. There is an 8-wire cable running to the a/c tstat and 4 wires are being used - "C", Rc", "Y", and "G".
From the boiler, I have "Rh", "W", and "C". I understand how to hook up everything except the "C" common wire. I know this is to power the tstat, but which "C" do I hook to the thermostat? I called 2gig and they said to use either one, but I've also been told to use both the "C"s together. If I use only one, for example, if I use the "C" wire from the a/c air handler to power the thermostat, does it cause any problems when using the boiler in the winter since the power for the valves (Rh) is coming from the boiler xformer?
Thanks for any help.Read More
