Upgrading old York thermostat to Honeywell Wifi: need help wiring

Greetings!

I recently purchased a house that is equipped with an old York thermostat (the kind with mercury vials in it). I was attempting to change it for the Honeywell RTH9580 Wifi thermostat but ran into some problems with the wiring.

These are the wires that I have on the old thermostat:
W, C, Y, B, G, R and X

The options for the new thermostat are:
C, K, Rc, R, W - O/B, Y, G, W2-aux/E, Y2, L

Since I have both a C and B wire I am at a loss. I also don't know what to do with the X wire.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The setup is a heat pump with an Oil Furnace.

-Gary

There are many options for the functions some of your terminals.
Post the entire Q674 number on your subbase along with the unused terminals.

C = blue
K
Rc, R = red
W - O/B = orange
Y = yellow
G = green
W2-aux/E = white
Y2
L

The brown wire was emergency heat. I'd tape it off, but you could connect it to the white Aux/E wire at the air handler.

Hi. I'm glad to report that this thermostat worked well with my furnace all winter.
That said, I do have another problem.
My house does have a heat pump outside, which is supposed to be used as primary heat when the weather is above zero degree celcius. It`s been around 5 degrees this past week and I noticed that when I turn the heat on the heat pump does not come on (the oil furnace does).

In the old system, the furnace was installed as the emergency heat so maybe this has something to do with it? I connected the brown wire to the white as it was suggested.

Thanks in advance for your help

This thermostat does not have terminals for an outdoor temperature sensor. If you have an outdoor thermostat in the heat pump it may require you to turn the dial a little lower.

Ah, yes, that may be it.
I now remember the previous owner mentioning something about setting up the trigger for the heat pump. I will have a look.
