New Programmable T-stat install

I need help hooking up a new thermostat to a carrier heat pump product # 4Z05E16303, with a carrier air handler product # FV4BNF003000AAAA. My old t-stat is carrier TC-NHP01, the new t-stat is a Honeywell RTH6350, and I have 8 wires in my wall.

I forgot to mention that there is a yellow wire not being used (to make the 8 wires).

That t-stat will not work since you have a two stage compressor.

You'll need to have a Pro model installed such as VisonPro or VisonPro IAQ.

TH8320 and on up will work.

I would suggest the IAQ model if you can't fish wires outside for the outdoor sensor.

Thanks for your help and answers. One last questions, as I look at the difference in price, would a honeywell wifi or nest work well with my system?

Both the Nest, and Honeywell RTH9580WF WiFi model could work..

However, if you use the set mode on these guys, you are NOT going to save any money.. When they come out of set back/recovery mode, the Electric heat strips are going to come on to help recover since HP can't recover fast enough..

Where the VisionPro model w/ an outdoor sensor, you can lock out the Aux heat if you really have to set the t-stat back.

HP are best to "set-it-and-forget-it.."
