W v. W/E v. E Wires - HELP!

I am replacing Emerson digital thermostat Honeywell WiFi TH8320WF. On my old thermostat, there was a white wire that went in to "W/E"

On the new thermostate there is a "W" and an "E" Does the white wire that we previously "W/E" go into the "W" or the "E"????

Welcome to the forums.

What kind of system are we talking about there ?
Heatpump with electric reheat coils ?
Gas furnace ?

Most likely that wire will just connect to the W terminal.

It's a gas furnace. Rather new. House was just built in 2012.

Then that wire will go to W and you'll set the thermostat up for gas furnace.
