Need Wiring Assistance.

Just bought a home that is using a York split system Heat pump with the maximizer add-on coil. It is using a thermostat Q674L 1272. The wiring is O, Y, X, R, G, B, W. There is also three wires that are not being used. I am installing the Honeywell RTH6580WF. For heat pump systems Honeywell uses R, RC (connected with jumper), Y, C, O/B, G, Aux/E, L, K.

Currently I have it wired
Old New
O O
Y Y
X Aux/E
R R
G G
B C
W Aux/E
L
K
I have read mixed messages about W, B and X. Some say to Taped off W. Some say X should be in the C slot. Other says B should be taped off. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Color codes vary but I agree with your wiring. Down here I would tape off X but if I were in a colder area I would connect it to Aux/E along with the old W wire as you have.
