Wiring for fan only

I have a lennox g50df 24a gas furnace with a honeywell rth111 series thermostat. The wiring was only w and r furnace works no problem. I wanted to wire it so i can use the fan only in the summer. Looked on the web found should run wire from terminal g on both which i did but fan does not run what other leads do i need to wire or will this not work. Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

Did you make sure that the R wire is connected to R at both ends ?
With just a two wire setup..... the order of W and R didn't make a difference. Now with a third wire in use.... it's important.

At the furnace end..... try a jumper between R and G terminals. See what happens then.
You can use any wire and just touch it to the contacts.... it's low voltage there.
