Carrier infinity system thermostat

I have a carrier infinity thermostat with 4 wires system is only for cooling
. I need new thermostat, bought a Honeywell hooked up got power but would not turn air on. Have been told my system communicates and can only use a carrier thermostat. First is that true? Second, if not what type of thermostat do I need/ suggest I buy? Thanks

You cannot connect a conventional thermostat to the existing ABCD terminals.
A and B are communication terminals and C and D are 24 volts.

Some Infinity equipment can except conventional thermostats.
You can open the panel to the air handler and outdoor unit to see if they also have conventional terminals.

The complete model number of the air handler and condenser may allow us to check for you.

You will lose some great features if you use a standard thermostat.
