Installing a new heat pump thermostat

I have an older, about 15 years, York Heat Pump (yes it is still working) and purchased a Honeywell RTH6350 Thermostat that says it is heat pump compatible. My old thermostat has the following wiring:

Blue wire goes to – L
Orange wire goes to – O
Black wire goes to – X
Red wire goes to – R
Yellow wire goes to – Y
Green wire goes to – G
White wire goes to BOTH – W2 & E

Options for the Heat Pump on the new thermostat are:

L
AUX/E
G
O/B
Not Used
Y
R
RC

So, is it time to call a “qualified” HVAC guy as they say when the wires don't match or is there an easy answer out there?

Help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

L - Blue wire - tape off.... not needed (lamp)
O - Orange wire - O
X - Black wire - tape off....not needed (common)
R -Red wire – R/Rc (usually a little jumper in place)
Y - Yellow wire - Y
G - Green wire - G
W2/E - White wire - AUX/E

Function 1 - 5
Function 2 - 0
Function 3 - 1
Function 5 - 9 ?

As far as I can tell... that should get you going. Houston, the forum pro, usually stops by and tweaks the thermostat programming.

Option 5 probably won't pop up but it should be 3 for the compressor if it appears.

Function 6 is 9 for electric heat but a lower number like 5 or 3 could increase comfort (at the expense of efficiency).
