Honeywell 9580 - Staging

I'm looking at upgrading to the Honeywell 9580 thermostat.
Question: How does it handle 2 stage cooling / What staging technique is used to determine when 1st or 2nd stage is used?

TIA!

If you are referring to the RTH9580 then 1 degree demand is stage 1 cooling. 2 degrees is stage 2.

You get more control options with the pro version that doesn't begin with R.

Thanks!
Does either the non-pro or pro versions go back to stage 1 after it hits stage 2 and gets back down to 1 degree? Or does it stay at stage 2 until it hits setpoint?

In general, what's the best staging set up anyway?

Normal operation would drop from hi cool to low cool as demand drops to 1 degree again.

The pro version allows latching high stage until demand is satisfied if you wish.

I am not sure if the retail version has this option.

I only use latching for heat mode when customers are unhappy with low heat demand at the stat and the bedrooms are still too cold for their comfort.
