Help installing new thermostat please

I have a york B1HP036A06A central heat pump and my old thermostat is a white rodgers 1F78-144 and my new thermostat is a ecobee3. My old thermostat had a red wire going to rc then jumped to rh, green wire going to g, yellow wire going to y then jumped to w and a orange wire going to O. I also have 8 wires in the wall

Welcome to the forums.

We can give you a hand wiring the new stat.

You have a heatpump system with no electric backup coils..... correct ?
You'll need to check where your thermostat wiring connects at the air handler for a C terminal. You'll need to connect one of your spare wires to the C terminal.
