Old gas floor furnace won't fire up
I have an old gas floor furnace. I turn the thermostat up and the burner won't fire, I have power to the thermostat but none to the pilot generator. There is a wire ran from the thermostat to a block of some sort, the block is plugged into an outlet, then there's a wire running from the block to the furnace. Am I correct in thinking that my thermostat is out? It's an old 2 wire round mechanical thermostat

Welcome to the forums.
I moved you to your own thread. The one you posted in... the problem was completely different to yours.
We know nothing about your system other that it's old and it's gas and it has an old 2 wire stat.
There should be a wiring diagram somewhere on the furnace that will be helpful.
A make and model would be helpful.
Pictures would be even more helpful. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...-pictures.html
It sounds like you have a millivolt pilot system that uses no 24vac switching of the burner. This type of system relies on a proper burning pilot light and an operating pilot generator.
