Thermostat replacement

I'm replacing a Carrier 33CS450-01 Thermostat with a Honeywell RTH7600 Thermostat. The wiring on the Carrier is as follows:
Orange wire = W2
Blue wire = Misc 1
White wire = W1/O/B
Yellow wire = Y1
Green wire = G
Red wire = R
Copper wire = C

Welcome to the forums.

Why are you changing thermostats ? That Carrier stat is highly complicated and is not an easy job to swap out. On the surface it looks like you have a two stage heating and two stage cooling system. Not a heatpump.... a standard gas furnace with split A/C.

------------------------------Tentative wiring
Orange wire = W2 ---------> W2
Blue wire = Misc 1 ---------> Y2
White wire = W1/O/B -----> W
Yellow wire = Y1 -----------> Y
Green wire = G -------------> G
Red wire = R ----------------> R with Rc jumper
Copper wire = C ------------> C

What is a copper wire.... a bare wire with no insulation ??

There are programing jumpers in the Carrier stat that may need to be confirmed. It appears that Misc 1 is stage 2 cooling.

I'd like to have my forum partner, Houston, weigh in here first before you attempt the new stat wiring.

I agree. The existing thermostat is better than the new thermostat.
The new thermostat will not control a humidifier or a dehumidifier.

The "bare" copper wire is just a wire with orange-brown insulation. Seen it a hundred times.

The Honeywell 9000 series thermostats will be closer to the existing thermostat in capability. The Honeywell Prestige or the Prestige IAQ would be good choices.
