Replace Detroit thermostat with Ecobee -- McClain fuel oil furnace

My 50+ year old fuel oil furnace (hot water heat system) was replaced last year with a new McClain furnace. Now I want to replace the old Detroit Controls thermostat with a new Ecobee. I find that the green wire is tied to the red wire at the thermostat, and tied to the white wire at the furnace (zone 1.) I read that the green wire is usually the blower, and I don't have a blower, so... what is going on? Is there any reason to do this? Why does it even work?

Sorry for wasting anyone's time. I made a rookie mistake -- mixed up the zones. The thermostat is actually on zone 3, and the green wire is clipped short, up under the insulation where I didn't see it at first.

I labeled your picture where the green C wire will connect.

Rh - red
W1 - white
C - green
