Thermostat question
Hello All,
I have these ERIE TAC digital thermostats installed in my house, and one was acting up so I took it off and cleaned it with contact cleaner...this seemed to fix the problem and it worked fine ever since.
I did notice, however, that there is a 1.5 volt battery installed in the bottom...one of those very small round ones...and was wondering if these batteries effect the performance of the thermostat, or are they there to just remember the last temperature setting following a power outage.
These batteries have been in there for over 15 years...so I doubt there is much juice left in them...
Do these thermostates require these small batteries for operation??
Thanks in advance
-Jim

Your guess sounds right. Assuming this thermostat: https://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.supplyho...ttal-Sheet.pdf then from the manual Battery, Setpoint backup (Energizer 357 or equivalent).
