Honeywell Wiring Help - Red Wires 1 and 2

My existing thermostat has the G,C,R,Y, and W wires which I know how to hook up to a new thermostat, but it also has 2 extra red wires labeled 1 and 2.

I have no idea what to do with red wires 1 and 2.

Sub base : Q682B1250
Thermostat : Y8224A
Heater : First Company 24HBC-HW Hot water fan coil unit.
Cooling : Rheem RAKA-024JAZ

Problem : Heat and fan won't kick on even when temp is set to higher than room temp when set to HEAT and AUTO. When FAN and HEAT is set then the air just blows but no heat still. I suspect the thermostat is bad.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

Welcome to the forums.

Don't make any changes yet. Look closely at that sub base..... are you sure 1 and 2 are actual additional wires and not a jumper from 1 to 2 ?

I verified that wire 1 and 2 are connected. I just put in a new thermostat and it's working kind of...

My initial problem was that the heat would not turn on at all. Now the heat works in HEAT and fan ON mode with the new stat. In the HEAT and AUTO mode, the fan does not kick on automatically and I verified the heat is working because the pump next to the water heater is running. If I turn the fan to ON then warm air blows out of the vents. This sounds like another problem?

With the new thermostat I tried the cooling and it function correctly in COOL & AUTO and COOL and ON. Which it didn't previously with the old stat.

The heat runs off the hot water from the water heater. Maybe the water temperature needs to be set higher? It was set to 2nd lowest I believe.

Configure the new thermostat for electric heat to energize the fan with a heating demand.

I switched it to electric mode and it's working correctly now. My system doesn't turn on the fan in heat auto mode.

Thanks everyone!
