Trane xc95m, Trane XL 1050 and GeneralAire flow through humidifier
Furnace and tstat are set up in communicating mode. This means that the W1 wire is no longer connected to the tstat and as such not available to provide the 24vac that my humidifier solenoid requires to open. I am not sure how to hook all of this up such that the humidifier solenoid opens when the furnace is running. Any ideas on wiring would be great. Current connections on the board are in the attached picture. Current connections. Communicating tstat hooked up like this. Old connections, non-communicating mode with nest tstat. Humidifier was hooked to w1 and b/c.
Take a flashlight and look completely over your board. We're looking for a slide on terminal labeled HUM. It will look just like the terminals used for line, neutral, etc.
If you don't find it..... look for the 4" metal junction box where the main power enters the furnace.
Turn the power off and remove that cover. See if there are unconnected wires in there.
There may be one labeled HUM and one EAC.
If not..... post the model number of the furnace. It'll be near the burner on the side wall.
Trying to replace Honeywell th8321wf1001 with nest 3rd gen. Lennox ml14xc1 system w gas furnace
I contacted google and they said tape off the black c wire and the orange u1 wire but I'm a little skeptical in trusting them since I'm reading that the u wire potentially controls humidity/ventilation?

any advice is appreciated
I'm seeing comments that nest can't handle the u wire in this case and better to go with ecobee
Hello All,
I am in the process of replacing my old thermostat which has only 2 wires Red and White. I have Gas baseboard heating. 2 Zones both with Red and white going to the thermostat.
In the wall i found an extra wire which runs back to the transformer. I am trying to figure out the proper wiring at the transformer.
I think I can just add the extra wire to the w but do not know if this will mess with the circuit. and leave white on tv and red on t
