What is a long lasting thermostat for heat pump?

Hello
I have a Honeywell T6 Pro (TH6320U2008/U) Thermostat. It was installed with our new heat pump in Oct of 2020. It appears that the thermostat isn't working right all the time. Twice now cool air has been blowing out of the vents. Today, I felt cold air coming out of the vents. The thermostat was set at 72 degrees. The thermostat was showing that the current temperature was at 68. Previously the temperature would never drop that low before the heat came on. I shut the heat off. Then set it to emergency heat. The heat came on and went up to temperature. I shut it down for about 10 minutes and then set it back to regular heat. So far it has cycled twice ok. When this happed last week, the batteries were changed in the thermostat.

I just got done reading numerous reviews on this model. It seems like people are only getting a year and a half to 2 years out of this thermostat. Can anyone recommend a thermostat to replace this unit? I just want something that will work. Doesn't need to be wi-fi or have any other bells and whistles.
Thanks for any input.

Welcome to the forums.

I've found that as a last resort a wifi thermostat can be run from batteries but that is not ideal.
There is nothing wrong with that thermostat.
A C connection to the system may be helpful.
If you change to a different wifi thermostat...... C will be needed.

It is not set up for wi-fi. And I didn't want the next model to have it either.

Is the outdoor unit W wire connected to the indoor unit heat strip terminal so you don't feel cold air when it enters defrost mode?
