toilet repair

My American Standard toilet, 3 years old, has a persistent leak. I have replaced the flush valve and the flapper. But, it continues to leak. How can I stop the leak

Cool

Where, exactly, is it leaking?

Re: toilet repair

Lift the flapper and run your finger around the seat, feel for any buildup or foreign particle.

Cool

I agree with enigma-2.
Clean the flapper seat with steel wool or an SOS pad.
Shorten the chain on the flapper until it just allows it to fully seal.
If the flapper is on a rubber ring around the overflow tube, and the tube has two little L-shaped brackets at the bottom of it, cut the ring out of the flapper and put the flapper "ears" on the brackets. They seem to function better that way sometimes.
Good Luck!
Mike
