Toilet leaking at bottom
#1

We have tried 3 different wax rings since Friday and the dang thing is still leaking around the bottom of the floor. The house is only 3 yrs old. What am I missing here? Looked at the toilet itself for cracks but could not see any.........
I would say the more you flush the toilet the more it leaks. It was really bad Friday until we started messing with it now since most of us will not go in there the leaking doesn't seem as bad but we would like to use that bathroom ya know! lol
I am so lost now! I hate to have to call a plumber and pay lots of $$$ for something if it's simple and I am just missing it! It seems to stink in there also like urine or something. I have locked the kids out of that bathroom and opened the window trying to keep the smell out of the rest of the house.
HELP!

Toilet could have a hairline crack in the bottom that cannot be seen. Set toilet on a drywall bucket and fill tank, flush, and see if water only comes out where it is suppose to.
Also, is the flange securely mounted to the floor?
If it isn't, then the flange is being pulled up, squeezing the wax ring out, thus loosing the seal.
What does the ring look like when the toilet is pulled back up?
Stay away from horned rings; you have to have a normal installation for these to work, and too often people use these with the result of the plastic horn being forced into a position it shouldn't.

This is going to sound like a dumb reccomendation, but make sure the 2 nuts holding the bowl down are tight. Be careful not to crack the porcelain, but they do have to be snug.
A few days after installation give them another tightening as the wax will settle and could leave a tiny gap there.

Thanks
Thanks for the info! tried that still leaks! I broke down and called a plumber yesterday and they came out and replaced the wax ring and put spacers in there and they said I was all fixed up!( thinking to myself hmm already tried this and I told them this also! did they listen?? nooooo)
Well a little while after they left and after I already forked over my money it started leaking AGAIN! OK I feel they should come back out here and fix it RIGHT this time and not charge labor! We will see. They have not called me back yet.
