Kohler Shower

I worked hard to get a Kohler shower(hot side) faucet stem out which I tried to put a double ott washer in but it seemed too big-I used it anyway . When I turn the water on I have to open the faucet about a full turn before water starts to come out.
Does this ring a bell with anyone or is it the nature of the faucet?
Thanx
Pete

If you used a bevelled washer instead of a flat, this is a normal situation due to the soft pliable rubber of bevelled washers.

Washers initially will be very spongey, and over time, they will temper and harden over time.

One common situation is people complaining of turning the water on a faucet on low on the hot side, then when the temperature changes, the faucet acts like the faucet is shutting itself off.

What is happening is the rubber swelling, which this issue will disappear when a few months pass by with use.

An oversized washer will wear out twice as fast; causes the washer to dimple, raising the outer edges.
