Question Empty toilet tank

The tank of our toilet is completely empty. My husband used the toilet this morning, and it worked fine, but all of the sudden there is no water in the tank. The stopper seems to be situated right and there is water in the bowl. What could cause this? I'd like to fix it myself if possible. When I call the landlord for a plumber, it tends to take more than a day to get one out here.

Landlord?
Maintenance is the landlord's problem.
However, if you want to expedite the solution, replace the toilet tank water valve with a Fluidmaster 400A float-cup type valve.
It only costs about $7-8 bucks, and is easy to install. Just follow the directions that come with it.
Good Luck!

That works? My toilet just started doing the same thing. We opened the valve that goes into the bottom of the tank and there was no water whatsoever but when we disconnected the other end there was water everywhere. I am going to try what you suggested to the other post-er but do you know what causes this sort of problem?
