Shower drain leak

Shower drain leak
We have a leak in our shower stall. The plastic ring around the drain against the fiberglass floor has cracked horizontally about half way around, allowing water underneath. How might I remove it? (A schematic, if available, is always appreciated.)
I've removed the sheetrock under the drain in the basement ceiling and the leak is clearly coming from around the drain, not the pipe itself. It also flows pretty steadily suggesting it hasn't been leaking long. (The water came through the sheetrock.) Still, I'm concerned about dry rot. How do I check for this?
Thanks for your help.

Cut the pipe that leads to this, remove the nut that holds the shower drain assembly to the bottom of pan, and buy a BRASS shower drain.
Buy a coupling to join the existing pipe to the new pipe you will need to install into the shower drain.
