On my addition the building inspector indicated the need to change the two handle mixing valve to a "anti scalding pressure balance type". In speaking with him today, he indicated there may be a device I can install in the riser between the mixing valve and the shower head, without changing out the valve and reworking all that copper. I chose the two handle valve to coordinate with the separate tub and vanity valves, rather than go with a single handle mixer valve. My Questions: Is there such a device that can be installed in the riser between the mixer valve and shower head? If so, where can I find it? Are there any negatives in choosing this option over the single handle valve? Thanks, Iggy. ;)

I just bought a house and there is a toilet in the laundry room. There is no sink nearby, and I just don't want a toilet there. Therefore, I plan on either (1) removing the toilet altogether and tiling over it, or (2) putting a laundry sink in its place. I'll hire a professional to do this, but I'd just like to get an idea of what is involved. On option number (1), I assume you just remove the toilet, cap the drain pipe and then put flooring over it. Is that about right? Or do I need to remove the drain pipe and flange altogether? On option number (2), I assume you would have to run a hot water line, and also convert the toilet drain to one that a sink uses. All the sink drains I've ever seen drain out of a horizontal pipe in the back, rather than vertically through the floor. Can a toilet drain be converted for use as a sink drain, or would a new drain line need to be run? Thanks for any help
