As usual, a simple lavatory faucet replacement turns out to be not so simple! Today I was trying to remove my old bathroom sink faucet and the two large retaining nuts holding the faucet in place wouldn't budge. I tried penetrating oil to no avail. I then went to HW store and got a basin wrench. That didn't loosen them up at all. How do I get these blasted nuts off so I can proceed with my "easy installation". The retaining nuts look like they have dried out plumbers putty under them, oozing out a little? Right on top of the nuts are round metallic looking things, like giant washers. I figure this sink is about 30 years old. Help! and Thank You! Now I'm going to patch up my bruised knuckles!!!

Over the last two weekends our toilet has leaked ( through the flange to floor ). This happens after we have washed clothes all day. When we take a shower, the water doesn't drain as normal. There is no odor, or color to the leaking water ( except some small green particles, like a mold ). I don't know if the toilet leak is the shower water, but I would assume. All other toilets, tubs, and sinks drain fine. There is no leak at the washer as well. I have snaked 25ft through the shower drain, and removed a small bit of toilet paper, but it didn't seem to be enough to cause a backup. We haven't had the opportunity to test if this has worked. Are there any other causes of this? There are no problems throughout the week. It only seems to happen after doing laundry. I have also noticed a slight bubbling noise while in the bathroom. No bubbles in the toilet though. This noise is not constant, and will happen randomly throughout the week. As a side note: I am posting another forum question about septic systems. I don't know what type of system I have county sewer or septic
