For several months, my toilet has had a dripping sound inside. So much so that I have to close the bathroom door so as not to hear it when I sleep. I replaced the flapper twice, thinking that was the problem. Today, I opened it up and saw some water coming out of the ball**** cap assembly. (Excuse me if I get some terminology wrong as I'm new at this!) I have a Crane toilet. I bought a ball**** cap repair kit and attempted to install it. Everything is identical to my old assembly, but the plunger seemed to resist going down easily. I ended up replacing the diaphram and the plunger and keeping the rest of the old assembly. But there is a constant dripping sound coming from inside there and I'm not sure what to do next, short of calling in a plumber. Any ideas?

I hope someone can help me. I have really been getting the run around, am getting very frustrated, and it's cost me a small fortune so far. I have a Novi whirlpool tub and a shower. I discovered a leak where moisture was coming under the base board into the spare bedroom which is behind the tub. There is an access door to the whirlpool motor in the other spare bedroom that is at the end of the tub. The shower pipes run inside the wall between the bathtub and the hallway. When I discovered this leak, I called the plumber. He came out, was here about 15 minutes, checked a few things, looked in the access door and said it looked like the leak was on one of the whirlpool tub pvc pipes to one of the jets. He said he didn't work on whirlpool tubs and I'd have to call someone who did. And of course he charged me. It seems there is only one place in Phoenix that works on whirlpool tubs so I called them. They came out and were here about five minutes, looked in the access door and said it looked like the plumber might be right but there would have to be a hole cut in the spare bedroom wall and they don't cut holes. So I would have to call the plumber back and have him cut a hole in the wall and then call them back. Then they left, after they charged me, of course. So I cut a hole in the spare bedroom wall and put a half a tube of Marine Goop on the area on the pvc pipe connection where I thought it was leaking. There are too many connections in that small area to easily replace them all or I would have tried that already. I may be imagining it but it looks like the leak has slowed down but now it looks like it may be leaking in another place. How likely is that? And is there some way I can tell exactly where a leak is coming from? Could it be running down one of the pipes from the shower? I really hope I don't have to cut a hole by the shower pipes as that would be in the hallway and I'm not an expert at patching orangepeel drywall. My late husband took care of all these kinds of things and I had no idea it was this frustrating. So I definitely appreciate any suggestions you can give me.
