Pls Help! Can't get Shower arm off

I am trying to replace the shower arm and flange. I CANNOT get the darn arm off! I have tried WD-40 to try to loosen it up but to no avail! I got it to budge just a bit last night but only a tiny bit. What else can I put in there to loosen it up????? I really don't want to break the pipe in there.

THANK YOU!!!!

Lee Ann

Use a large pipe wrench on the shower arm near the wall and turn it out counter-clockwise.
If the shower arm pipe nipple threads break off in the wall fitting, there is a tool called a 1/2" inside nipple wrench that will remove them.
Good luck!

See, it won't even turn not even with a pipe wrench, my hubby couldn't even get it to budge. Should I just try harder???? I am really scared that I will break it since it won't give at all.

LAWEDDLE, you are NOT the first and will not be the last to make this mistake. Little trick....Lefty----Loosie..Righty--tighty. After 30 years I still have to think sometimes especially if the fitting is screwed on from the bottom upwards. Glad you got it off. P.S. If you do not already have the new arm installed, a pair of channel-locks or plier handles inserted into the arm opening can be used to tighten it up without damaging the chrome finish.

No problem.
That's how we all learned once. "Righty=tighty, lefty=loosey".
Wrap 2-3 flat wraps of teflon tape around both male threaded ends of the new shower arm clockwise only as the threaded ends face you, to seal the threads.
To keep from marring the new shower arm if you don't have a strap wrench, stick a handle of a pair of channel-lock pliers in the end of the pipe and tighten it into the wall fitting clockwise. Be sure to keep the threads straight.
Good luck!

Hey, Terry.
You replied while I was still typing.
We won't even go into flush handle nuts. LOL
(BTW. I have an inquiry in on your question. I'll let you know whenever I hear something.)
