Tough leaky tub faucet problem

Hi all,

My tub faucet has been leaking for weeks now and nothing I do seems to work. The water that drips is warm so I guessed it was the hot water side that's the problem. I replaced the stem, the washer, and the seat on that side but it still kept dripping. I then made the same replacements on the cold water side and it's still doing it. Short of getting an entirely new faucet assembly, I have no idea what else to do. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tony

When you were changing everything out, did you tighten the packing nut on the stem? Water may be by-passing it. Just a thought. Good luck.

Could be a cracked valve body, which would be almost impossible to see until you remove the assembly. It sounds to me like you have changed everything else.

I am assuming the leak is out the faucet and not a valve stem.

One last thing to try before replacing the faucet body...remove the seat and wrap a flat turn or two of teflon tape clockwise only around the threads as the back of the seat faces you. Then re-install it.
Good Luck!
