low hot water pressure

Background: Holding tank set at 40-60 psi, empty air charge 38 psi. Single handle tub/shower combination.

When taking a shower and the water is at the low end of the cycle the diverter drops. Also when I turn the hot water on only there is considerable less flow then when only the cold is on. This seems to be the case in this tub/shower only. I did take apart the faucet and saw no obstructions. I emptied the hot water tank (do it every 6 mo's. to remove sediment) and the problem went away for a few days. It's back again, I initially thought it was the faucet, but when I emptied the hot water tank and it worked better....... I am now confused.

Any ideas?............. Chinook

For divertor, I'd say replace it, pressure problem could be pipes, do you have galvanized pipes in the house?

copper pipes, I thought about the divertor, but the hot water volume is considerable lower then the cold (and only that line). Wouldn't that lead one to believe that there is some kind of a restriction?

What I would do, shut water off, take valve apart, where there is nothing left inside of it, close door or curtain of the shower, turn water on for a 10 to 15 sec and let the water flush out the line, reassemble and see if that improves it.

I removing all the guts and then turned on the water supply. I saw nothing come out. I then tried to get something into the supply holes in the valve. I managed to get a ty-wrap into the holes and probed trying to find a plug. I was able to get in cleanly to the first T on the cold side, on the hot side there seems to be some kind of a build-up (calcium is my guess). Do you know of anyway that I can clean this out before I cut a hole in the rock on the back side to replace the valve or clean it?

Thanks for your time, chinook

Wire is the only option you have, try different thickness of wires.
