toilet not flushing properly

We just moved into our new home. In our mater bathroom, the toilet does not work properly. It flushes, but the water goes down very slowly and the paper does not go down. We have tried plunging it and snaking it and there is nothing there. The other toilet in our house had the same problem, but we plunged it and it worked fine. The plumber that installed it can't get out here for another 2-3 weeks. Anything we can do to get this fixed? The plumber siad he would probably have to take the toilet off. What could be the problem that we might be able to do it ourselves?

apemb, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
If this is a new tiolet, the problem would seem to be in the drainline. You can try a product called Drain Care. It is an enzyme drain cleaner that sticks to any clog and eats it. Unlike caustic cleaners that go right by the clog. It takes overnight and may need more than one application. It's about $8 at Home centers, Ace, Walmart and even some supermarkets. It is also safe for septic systems. Good luck.
