Question A-frame woes

I have an A-frame home. My upstairs bath tub is leaking into the downstairs bathroom. I have cut the drywall to look at the drain to see if it has rusted through.. and I can't see anything. I have gone in the crawl spaces upstairs where the water lines are.. and I STILL can't see anything. Other than ripping out the ceiling in my downstairs bathroom and seeing what is "up" with the tub.... Can you suggest something simple that I may be over looking. Tub has no cracks, silicone seal is fine.

Hi KLW1985,
Welcome to the DIY Forums.

Process of elimination:
Check the flange around the tub drain. Does the putty look washed or scrubbed away? If it does this could be the source of your leak.

To check this you can stop the tub up and POUR water from a sink into the tub. Let this sit for a bit and check for a leak. Do not use the tub supply at this time.

Turn on the tub cold water supply, check for leak.

Turn on hot water supply, check for leak.

Turn on shower head if present, check for leak.
When you look into the accesses you have created do you see the water dripping from "somewhere",even though no rust out is present? Sometimes the leak is not at the drain but at one of the above sources.

Check these easy places and reply back.
