Toilet runs intermittently

Just intsalled a new low flush toilet. Everything appears to be working fine (it's been tested), no leaks or anything. The only issue is every now and then, it runs for approx 1-3 seconds. It appears to be a random event and I've not been able to correlate it to any one event. Any ideas? Thanks, Matt

May be that the flapper is not sealing properly. This lets water leak down into the bowl and then the fill valve replenishes the lost water. Take some coffee (liquid only, no grounds) and pour into the tank. Watch to see if brown water goes into the bowl. This will confirm a flapper leak. May be debris of some sort on the sealing surface. Good luck.
