Toilet has a rotten egg or sulphur type smell when flushed. What can be used or done for this? The toilet is about 5yrs. old. :mask: :mask:

How long has this been going on? When you flush a toilet the water drops from the tank to the bowl and then down the drain. Unless there is a venting problem, meaning the water is being siphoned out of the toilet bowl, there should be no smell [so to speak]. If the water is being siphoned out it will let sewer gas[could be taken for a sulphur smell] in till the bottom of the bowl is full of enough water to cover the exit hole[bottom of the bowl]. Do the tub and the faucet drain normal? Do their drains smell? Is it just this toilet? Everything else in the house works fine? What happens if you turn on the sink and the tub or shower if there is one and then flush the toilet? This may seem unnecessary to know but it may help.

If you have a low flow toilet instead of flushing it get a large pot and put in 1.6 gallons of water and dump it in the toilet. take as long to do it as it take for the toilet to flush like 5 seconds. Don't pour it in the middle but around the sides of the toilet. If you have an old toilet use more water
If that gives the same smell make sure the tank is filled to the water level line inside the tank. and that the toilet doesn't rock. Could be a wax seal but don't know why it would only smell when flushed.clean under the rim and use some of the blue stuff[2000 flushes] you add to the tank.
Make sure the fill tube [the little tube that goes into the big tube]inside the tank is flowing strong into the big vertical tube. This is what fill the toilet bowl and keeps the smells out. Make sure the holes under the rim are not clogged
I know the water in the tank doesn't smeel right.
You never said what happens when you turn on all the water and then flush the toilet. What floor is this on and how many floors in the house. Like I said these questions may be unnessesary but it helps to know as much as possible.
I am not a plumber but i do know about plumbing
