Bathtub floor trim

I hate the wood trim around the bottom of the tub. If it is painted or varnished, with time it looks real crappy. Does anyone know if there is any type of plastic trim.

Yes.

Go to any big box store and they will sell numerous types and styles of plastic trim that is glued to your unit bottom. These can be painted or they come in white or woodgrain finish.

when we bought our house, in both bathrooms, at the base of the tub & the shower enclosure, there was an "L" shaped piece of white plastic trim that was glued on to cover the seam between the units & the vinyl flooring. however, over time, the glue began to slowly ooze out from under the strip, but always remained fairly hard & putty-like, although it became very dirty & unattractive.

yesterday, i pulled off the strip from the tub and, although it had been very difficult to remove in the past, it came off super easily. the adhesive was gooey in fact. what happened to this adhesive??? what would cause it to go from firm & caulk-like to creamy & gooey?? and how to avoid this in the future? what type of adhesive is (should be) used to adhere this type of trim?

i'll be going to my big box soon to buy replacement trim & adhesive. anything else i should know or get? any tips? should i caulk the seam between the tub/shower and the linoleum first, and then adhere the trim? or is the trim alone enough?

thanks!

never mind............i went to HD and found the plastic trim stuff - it's self-adhesive!!! i didn't caulk first like i'd planned on (forgot!) - hope that's okay. i also hope this stuff continues to stick & doesn't start mysteriously oozing out the bottom like the other one did.
