shower control cartridge replacement ?

Didn't see this addressed in board posts

American standard single valve control;
replaced cartridge; hot & cold water now reversed (hot w/control knob to left/ cold w/control knob to right.
Did I put the cartridge in "reversed?" Otherwise works fine; what's up?

Cartridge instruction sheet doesn't address this .......
thx in advance

I am assuming you did not touch any water supply tubes or pipes. Turn off what ever you had to to change the valve and put it in the other way. See what happens or if it goes in at all. What is this a sink shower or what . Before you do that---Does the old cartridge give you any reason to believe the new one will not go in either way. Like something that lines it up[slot]that is only on one half of the cartridge and will only let in go in 1 way.

Not sure about American Standard but many are corrected (Moen for example) by rotating the stem of the cartridge 180 degrees.
