No Leak, Water In Toilet Bowl Low
#1

Both toilets in the house have low water levels in the bowl. If I fill the bowl by pouring a bucket of water in, they don't leak.
Flushing empties the bowls, but the bowls then fill with only a small amount of water. Cause? Solution? House is 3 years old. Toilets are American Standard, handicap height. Thanks.

If filling them with a bucket produces a higher level of water and it doesn't leak down, this tells me that the level in the tank is not high enough to refill the bowls to the proper level. If the bowl isn't as full as it should be, then the trap is probably not sealing out sewer gases. Check the level in the tank. There should be a mark on the inside of the tank that shows the proper level. Good luck and reply back with any further questions.

The built-in trap in the toilet dictates the water level. It provides enough water to seal against sewer gas and at the same time, provides an escape for water should the flapper leak water while you are not home. The water level in the bowl is not adjustable otherwise.

Hi.
Gently pour water into toilet bowl. That will show you the correct level of water in the bowl. If there is a difference check the water line that goes into the overflow make sure water from the line goes down the overflow. If water is going down the pipe has not a lot of flow Change the fill valve. If water flow is good make sure the flapper dumps enough water into the bowl. I would think it will take most of the tank.
