Sand in my disposal!
#1

Has anyone ever gotten sand in their disposal? I believe that is what I have in there that is gumming it up to the point that it will not spin. I've hit the reset button on it and I can spin it from the bottom with the allen wrench, but it will not spin on it's own. What is the best strategy for cleaning this badboy out?
I've got an Insinkerator Badger 5 Plus.
Thanks in advance for the advice, the forum has helped me out on several occasions and I've come to depend on it!

Pull the unit. Take it out into the front yard or driveway, where ever you have access to a garden hose; and flush that guy out.
Once it's clean, just plug it in any outlet to see if it works. If it is still dead, then half the job of replacement is done, just install a new disposal.
Good luck....BTW: you might as well clean the trap with sand in it at the same time.....
