Kitchen Sink

We bought a house that has a new kitchen installed. A month later we have a back up in the kitchen sink. When we turn on the garbage disposal, the water recedes. However, when the garbage disposal stops, the water percolates back up in the sink. What is going on?

newhouseowner, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
You have a clog in the drain line from the sink. When the disposer is on, it pumps the water against the clog. When it turns off, the water has no pressure against it so it returns to the sink. You could try an enzyme drain cleaner such as Draincare. Or you can snake out the drainline. Good luck.
