Hello all,
I have an ongoing problem that I thought was nothing but I need to address it. I have been in my home for four(4) years now and I have to get this off my head . We notice a stinky odor from the toilet, tub or shower. It seems as if it comes thru a tub, shower drain or the toilet. It smells like an outdoor toilet. We notice it early in the morning or in the evening when we come home. Both of these periods are times of inactivity of the toilets, tub and shower drains. Do I need to pour something down the drain and toilets. We notice it primarily in our upstairs master bathroom and upon asking my son and daughter about their individual bathrooms both attest that theirs never smell like that and that my bathroom smell horrible in the mornings and upon arrival in the evenings. Please help. I can almost say that it smells like a sewer line . Please help us with this dilemma. We do not smell it in any of the other bathrooms.

Have you had this problem as long as you've owned your home?
That nasty smell is more than likely sewer gas. Sounds like, maybe, your vent is plugged, causing your p-trap/s to siphon empty. I'm assuming, of course, that there are p-traps installed (have to be to pass any sort of code inspection during building of home)..........
