Remove Spout?
How do I remove the spout in my shower/tub?It has the pull-up knob in it and I don`t want to break anything,by trying to turn it,without knowing for sure.Thanks.

Look under the spout where it meets the wall or tub. If there is a slot there, you will need an allen wrench (usually 1/8" or 3/16"). Remove the screw and pull the spout off. There are "O" rings sealing the spout to the pipe so it may take some wiggling.
If there is no slot, the spout is screwed on to a pipe coming out of the wall. Place a pipe wrench or large pair of channellocks as close to the wall as possible (to lessen the strain on the pipe) and turn counter-clockwise. If you are going to reuse the spout, wrap a washcloth or rag around it to prevent damage from the wrench. If buying a new spout, take the old one with you to insure that the threads inside the spout are the same distance from the back end of the spout. Otherwise you will have to lengthen or shorten the pipe. Good luck.
