Delta Shower Won't Turn Off

Delta Shower Won't Turn Off
I have a home built in 1972 and the shower will not turn off. There are Delta fixtures, with the ball type socket. At first, it appeared that the hot water wouldn't turn off. I unscrewed the the handle (while the main waterline was still turned on, not recommended) and the ball and springs blew out. I looked at one of the o-ring type of things and it was shreded. I ran down and got replacement parts and thought I put it together okay.
The problem is, it won't turn off. I'm really stuck here, can't find the exact faucet on Delta's site. I have a cheap valve between the shower head and the pipe, but it leaks. It is working to slow it down though. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Damon

Figured it Out
Well, I'm a dork. A picture from the www.danco.com parts website proved to be useful. I had the springs and o-rings in the wrong order so the screen was against the ball. Apparently, springs to make very good seals.
Hope you get a chuckle at my expense.
