shower faucet does not shut off (picture)

OK, please see the picture so you know what I am talking about as I am not good in explaining things. I am trying to fix a shower facet which does not shut off at all. I opened it and there were 2 springs (u see in the pic) and no washers of any sort. I went to home depot and bought a set of new spring (same size as before) and a set of washers all in one package. Came home and put the washers inside the 2 smaller holes (there are 3 holes) in the faucet and then put the springs on top of the washers, put everything together and opened the main water. But still problem! The water just comes out as if there is not faucet at all .. did I install this wrong? Am I missing any parts? Please help. Thanks.

If you can find a manufacturers name on the unit, I have included a link to major manufacturers websites and Toll free phone numbers. You may be able to find a diagram of your fixture here. Good luck.

I looked at the diagram and it really doesn't seem to be the same as yours. The reason I say that is the way the main valve body looks. Something different between the diagram and your pic. Maybe they have a toll-free phone number that you could get more help from.
