Scratched toilet
The inside bowl of the toilet was scratched from a bowl scrubber that was metal and not plastic. I later read to avoid scratches always use plastic bowl scrubbers. Is there anyway to fix this scratch or does the toilet have to be replaced?

I do not know of a way to repair scratches in Porcelin for wet area usage. If the darkness in the scratches is dirt and not the base material showing, you MAY be able to clean them with a bleach solution and then apply automotive wax to seal them. It would probably need to be done on a somewhat regular basis. Good luck.

Chances are you did NOT scratch it. You are being fooled. The china is stronger than the steel. The steel has deposited marks of metal on your bowl that you think are scratches. Yes, use bleach. Let it set. Hydrochloric toilet bowl lime cleaners work also. There is other stuff also I'm sure that would work, like bailing the water and making a paste of Comet and bleach, and scrub. But you can at least feel good that you didn't scratch it.

You were right I was fooled. I put bleach in there and let it sit overnight, the next morning about of 1"X4" piece of "something" came off of the toilet bowl and the bowl was brand new, unscratched underneath. It was really weird. Thanks for the help

Should you have water with high iron content, bleach will set stains. Your best protection is to avoid old-fashioned toilet brushes with wire centers. Wire brushes tend to scratch and permanently destroy porcelain finish.
You state a 1"x4" "something" came 'off.' What was it? Please explain."
