Hot water won't work at all...???
#1

I've got a brand new water heater that was installed when I bought this house about 6 months ago. As of this morning I cannot get any hot water to come out my faucets. Cold water runs through perfectly fine, but when I switch to hot the water stops all together...it's not just that it won't get hot.
I checked the water heater and I can hear it running and when I peak through the front I can see a flame burning so I'd imagine that's the pilot light, right?
It's very cold here at the moment...but if pipes were frozen that would stop all water wouldnt it?
Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It is possible that just the hot water line froze. Or that the cold water line that supplies the water heater froze. Water heaters get their pressure from the incoming cold water supply. You will have to trace down the lines to actually know. You could check the cold supply line by hooking up a hose to the heater drain spigot and draining some water. You will be able to hear or feel (by placing your hand on the cold inlet line) the water flowing. Good luck.
Silly thought but make sure someone did not turn off the water valve going into the heater.
