Kohler shower valve

I installed a new Kohler single handle valve in a shower. The literature says to turn the valve clockwise all the way to set the temp. The literature also says it will get hot after a few minutes. When I turn it clockwise all I get is cold water. When I turn the handle back about halfway, I get hot water. I did the plumbing behind the wall as well? Thought all was well. What did I do wrong? Can I change the valve configuration to fix this? Thanks for any and all imput! MP

It sounds like you either plumbed the hot and cold supply lines backwards, or the cartridge got turned. I don't work much with Kohler, but if it is a typical cartridge, you should be able to take the handle off, rotate the stem of the cartridge 180° and put the handle back on. There is also probably some sort of plastic stop that fits over the stem. It is a temperature stop. It must be adjusted to keep the hot water from getting too hot.
If that doesn't fix it, check the installation instructions. If you no longer have them, go on-line to Kohler's website.
