New Fill Valve Leaks

Hi,

I replaced my toilet fill valve with Fluidmaster leak guard valve. Once I replaced it, I switched the water supply on, I see leak from the bolt that connects to the tank. Could someone help me fix this leak. I think I followed all the instructions correctly and I tried multiple times to get it right. Please help!

Another issue: I see some water drops trickle down from one of my bathroom sinks. Could you have any suggestions to fix this.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Is the leak on the outside of the tank where the locking nut meets the tank? Did you install the rubber washer on the inside of the tank on the bottom of the fillvalve? Are you using the original supply tube? If so, is it metal (stiff tube) , metal flanged tube (larger on end where it connects to the fill valve), metal spiral tubing or vinyl/braided connector? Let us know and I am sure we can help.
Is your sink leak on the drain pipes, faucets, or the water supply piping?

Fill Valve

Hi,

Thanks for responding.
Yes, the leak is on the outside of the tank where the locking nut meets the tank.
Yes, I did install the rubber washer inside the tank at the bottom of the fill valve. Yes, I am using the original supply tube. It is metal flanged tube based on your description. Please let me know your suggestions to fix this.

Is your sink leak on the drain pipes, faucets, or the water supply piping?
The sink leak is at the faucet. It drips even after tightly shutting it off. Let me know. Thanks for your help!

On the flanged style tube, there is a rubber washer that sits on the top of the tube where it meets the fillvalve. The nut on the supply tube seats this washer and prevents leaks. Did the washer possibly fall off when you disconnected the old fill tube? It may have a crack in it also. Check this out.
If you sink faucet is two handle, you may have a bad washer on the end of the stem. You wil have to remove the handle and stem (after shutting off the water supply). If it is a single handle faucet, it may have a cartridge in it that is defective or has a bad "O" ring.

Thank you!

Thank you. I did not notice a washer on the metal flanged tube. I will look for that and try fixing it again. I will post the status once I try it.

Thanks.

It may be stuck to the old fill-valve.

Supply Line

Hello,

I just checked the metal supply line. It looks little different compared to the metal flanged tubing picture given in the Fuildmaster 402LG Fill valve instllation instructions. The one connected to my toilet's fill valve looks like metal tube attached to a CONE washer, but it is all one piece. I am not sure what it is called. I took a picture of it, but not sure how to attach it to this post. Please let me know.
Thanks for your help.

You have to go to a site such as Photobucket and make it a link. Then include the link in your post. Good luck.
Photobucket is free.

Thank you for suggesting photobucket. I uploaded the supply line picture to it. Here is the url:

I did not see any washer between this line and the fill valve tube. Please let me know how I can stop the leak at this connection.

Thank you,

With the supply line you have, the cone should seal the leaks. It should not go all the way into the piece sticking out of the tank and the nut should not go up against the tank bottom when tightened. The bevel on the end of the supply tube is what makes the seal. check to see if it has a groove in it that may be allowing water to leak around it. You may need a new supply tube.

As Majak stated, replace the supply line. It is a common rule of thumb that you always replace the supply line to a toilet once disturbed. You have a PEX supply. Replace it with a braided stainless supply line and be done with it.
