Dont Shoot me ! Read the FAQ...adjusting water in toilet tank?

I know this has been discussed. I need to adjust the cylinder float that rides up and down when flushing the toilet. It is shutting off a bit early. Read thru the FAQ,I know it is there...help please!

adjusting the float level

Are you referring to a Fluidmaster fill valve? It is like a barrel on top of a post, with a short arm coming off of the top that is connected to a thin rod that hangs down and is connected to a float that rides up and down?

You can slide the float up higher to give a higher water level. If that is still not high enough, you can adjust the post, which is usually only done when it is first installed. Near the bottom of the plastic post is a plastic lock ring that is snapped down in place. You need to pull that ring up the post to unlock it. You can then slide the top part of the post, which lies on the outside of the bottom part of the post (like a pipe sliding inside another pipe), up higher to give a higher water level. You then slide the lock ring down till it snaps back in place.
