installing new tub

my latest "honey do" project is installing a new tub..ithink ican handle it allright with a little help from you folks here....my new tub's overflow is much higher than my old tub..my old plumbing is steel and i am pretty sure i can getit apart..my question...can i just go to the store and buy a drain that will go from the tub drain up to the overflow with the handle for the stopper and have it screw into my old plumbing ?? billie_boy, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
Buy an overflow that will be long enough for your new tub. You should be able to find them at Home Improvement stores. Good luck.
