Toilet installation

I recently installed two Kohler Wellworth toilets. In both cases the underside of the toilets had two short diagonal "feet", inside the skirt, just forward of the outlet, projecting to floor level. When turned upside down and checked with a straight edge, the two feet projected almost an eight of an inch lower down than the skirt base, with the result that the toilets would not sit flat on the floor without rocking. I tried to file the feet down but the material was too hard and, to obtain a good fit, I ended up cutting shallow grooves in the floor to accomodate the extra projection. My question is whether or not this extra projection on the feet is intentional and, if so, for what purpose? Are the feet supposed to dig into the floor?

I have never seen that type of thing on any toilet I have installed. The skirt should sit on the floor and the toilet should not rock. At the top of this Forum page there is a list of major manufacturers and their web address and toll free phone numbers. You may want to contact Kohler and ask why they are there. Good luck.
