sink faucet stem problem

Found a lavatory two handle faucet that the hot water stem is almost impossible to turn.......due to the fact that this faucet has rarely been used in the past. I suspect part of the problem is lime build up, I am going to pull the stem out and clean it up, is there any type of lubricant that one can put on the stem assembly to help it turn easier?

You can use Plumbers grease. It lubricates and helps prevent deposits from forming. Good luck.
