Question Stuck aerator

I'm trying to remove an old aerator for cleaning from a bathroom sink (2-handle faucet with low water pressure), but it won't come loose. I've managed to slightly crack (break) the outside of the aerator using a set of channel locks. It's pretty old and corroded. I believe I'm turning it the right way (clockwise looking down from above).

Are there any tricks to removing it without completely destroying it?

Thanks for any advice.

blinky, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
Your direction is correct. It may just be corrosion or calcium deposits that are preventing you from removing it. Since it is already cracked, may just as well crush it and remove. Since I cannot see it, it may be plastic and was cross-threaded to start with. Good luck.

majakdragon, thank you for your reply.

I actually was able to remove it using a different set of pliers: the regular kind, not channel locks. I think if I had started with those pliers, I could have removed it without cracking it. I ended up having to spend $3 for a new aerator since I broke the old one, but the low water pressure was definitely due to the old one being clogged with what looked like little pieces of solder.

Thanks again for your help!
